Benalmadena

Benalmadena

This is the second village seen from the airport. This village owes its name to the son of the owner of the mines Ben al Medina.

There are relatively new houses in Benalmadena. This village only became popular in the 20th century. In the 19th century, grape aphids developed here, causing many people to leave. The then Catholic king was also afraid of attacks by sea. In the second half of the 20th century, construction began again with a view to tourism and tourist attractions and hotels were created.

For example, you will find the Selwo Marina park here, a very popular attraction for young and old. The boulevard here is very suitable for a walk or bike ride. Several boats depart from the Puerto Marina harbour, but it is also suitable if you want to moor your own boat.

This village has a cable car that takes you up to the mountain top. If you are very sporty you can walk back down or first enjoy a drink and the view in the restaurant and then take the cable car back down.
