Before you buy a home in Spain, you will first make a number of considerations. We have listed the most important ones for you.

CHOOSING A REGION

Each Costa in Spain has its own characteristics and lifestyle. There are major differences in nature, culture, history, customs, sporting opportunities and construction prices.

HOW DO YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR TIME ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR HOME?

Do you like walks on the beach or do you prefer to venture into the hinterland? Do you want to live quietly at home and avoid the hustle and bustle or are you a real 'city person'? Do you like to play golf or do you prefer water sports or skiing, for example?

HOW OFTEN DO YOU USE THE HOME?

Are you looking for a home for holidays, for (semi) permanent residence or do you perhaps see it as an investment through rental, for example?

FINANCING

Do you want to take out a mortgage, and if so, do you want to take out one in Spain (with the house in Spain as collateral) or do you take out an (additional) mortgage on your home in the Netherlands?

What type of home are you looking for?

Do you prefer an apartment , a terraced house or a detached villa ? Each type has its advantages, including privacy or shared swimming pools. What requirements must the home meet? You can consider the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the size of the living room and the size of the plot. In short, what is important to you.

With a newly built home, you can often adapt the home to your wishes and payment is spread during construction. With turnkey new construction and existing construction, you can see what you are buying and you can often move into the home quickly. Another plus is that construction qualities have improved considerably in recent years, for example in terms of insulation.

With new construction you have the advantage that you receive a 10-year construction warranty. This is a legal obligation in Spain. This is of course also the case when you opt for a newly built, turnkey home. Particularly in the 'off-plan' segment, large price advantages can currently be achieved, as many builders would like to be certain in advance that a certain section has been sold. For these homes, a permit must even be applied for before construction can begin. Hence the lower prices.

What price range are you looking for?

Of course, the price of a house has to do with the size of the house (and possibly the size of the plot) and its location, such as views and privacy. However, the price also depends on the region you choose. There is a significant price difference between the various Costas.
